Tools You Will Need:

Heat Gun
Suction cup
Credit card
Small Phillips screwdriver
Metal prying tool
Small nylon spudger
Tweezers

Step 1

Power down your phone and remove the SIM card and SD card tray from the top.

Step 2

Remove the back panel by gently applying low heat with a heat gun to help soften the adhesive. Use a suction cup to help lift the back cover away a bit as you slide your metal prying tool in between the glass layer and the phone layer. Slide a credit card in the gap and carefully work your way around the glass edges to separate the glass from the frame.

Step 3

Once the panel is removed, unscrew the 12 Phillips screws that are holding the rear housing. Use a nylon spudger to separate the top plastic bracket, then remove the wireless charging pad.

Step 4

Disconnect the battery cable, power cable, display cable and the volume button cable. Using a pair of tweezers, remove the loud speaker module. Next, pop off all the antenna cables and the fingerprint scanner cable. Disconnect the earphone connector, front facing camera connector and the proximity and light sensor connector.

Step 5

Lift up the motherboard then disconnect the charging port connector. Disconnect and remove the rear-facing camera.

Step 6

Use a metal prying tool to gently remove the battery.

Step 7

Undo the three screws holding the charging port then take out the headphone jack.

Step 8

To remove the glass screen, gently heat the topside of the glass with the heat gun. Wedge a flat metal prying tool under the glass to help create a gap.

Step 9

Insert a credit card in the gap and work your way all around the edge of the glass to separate the glass from the frame. This may take some time.

Step 10

Once the glass is completely removed, inspect the frame to make sure no glass or adhesive is left behind.

Step 11

Use a pair of tweezers to drag out the black adhesive around the edges little by little; after all the adhesive has been removed, carefully open up the screen from one side.

Step 12

Some replacement screens come with adhesive built into the panel, while others require the application of 3M high quality adhesive to the inside the frame. After applying fresh adhesive, install the new glass screen.

Step 13

You are now ready to transfer your components onto the new screen. Work your way backwards to put each piece back.
